What is website maintenance?

Website maintenance is the regular work that keeps a website safe, working and up to date after launch. It covers WordPress or Shopify updates, backups and bug fixes, plus the content changes your business needs.

What do website maintenance services include?

Our service includes 3 kinds of work, all from one set of 25, 50 or 100 hours a month. We look at your WordPress, Shopify or Webflow website first and tell you which of them it needs.

01

Keeping it running

Software and plugin updates, backups, security checks and watching that the site stays online. We can take these on, but not on every website, so we check yours first.

02

Changing it

New photos and prices, new collections, new pages, corrected texts and fixed bugs.

03

Making it better

Faster pages on phones, pages written for Google and AI search, and enquiries sent to your CRM.

Does every website need monthly updates?

No. A WordPress website with plugins needs regular updates; a hand-written one mostly needs content changes. That is why we look before we promise anything.

What the routine depends on
Your websiteWhat needs regular careWhere the hours usually go
WordPress with pluginsWordPress, its theme and plugins, backupsupdates first, then changes
Shopify, Webflowthe platform updates itself; apps and themes still need checkingproducts, pages and speed
Hand-written code, like the sites we buildno plugins that need monthly updateschanges to your content

We agree the routine for each website. If it takes up to about 1 hour a month, it may not come off your hours at all.

How many hours do common website changes take?

Common changes take from about 1 hour for a slow page made fast to about 10 hours for a new kind of page. You see the hours of each task before we start.

WebsiteUmberform
New photos and prices for 10 products≈ 1.5–2.5 h
A new collection on a page template you already have≈ 2–4 h
A slow page made fast on phones, measured before and after≈ 1–2 h
A new kind of page — fabrics, showroom, for designers≈ 6–10 h
A page written for Google and AI search≈ 4–8 h

If a task runs over, we cover up to 15% ourselves; beyond that, we stop and ask you.

What can 25 hours a month pay for?

On the Start plan, 25 hours can pay for 2 new collection pages (≈ 4–8 h), new photos and prices for 20 products (≈ 3–5 h) and 1 slow page made fast (≈ 1–2 h). That comes to about 8–15 hours and leaves 10–17 hours for small fixes in the same month.

How much do our website maintenance plans cost?

Our plans start from $500 a month for 25 hours, with the first month at our cost. See all three plans →

The hours go to any task, so the same 25 hours can pay for a collection page (≈ 2–4 h), a faster page (≈ 1–2 h) or a PDF price list for dealers (≈ 2–6 h). If you only need updates and backups, a cheaper plan may suit you better. Market prices are on our website cost page.

What happens if your website goes down?

We answer as fast as we can, and plan clients get a phone number for emergencies. Everyday requests get a reply by email within 12 hours; a website that is down does not wait for that.

Who looks after the hosting?

If we are responsible for keeping your website running, we prefer to run the hosting too. Then the fix is in our hands when something breaks. The code, the domain and the content stay yours.

How do you take over a website?

  1. You send the address. We look at the website, however it was built.
  2. We tell you what we can take on. You get a short plan: what to improve first and how many hours each item takes.
  3. We agree the routine and the hosting. You decide what we look after.
  4. You send tasks. Every month you see what was done, how many hours are left and what we suggest next.

When don’t you need a website maintenance plan?

You don’t need one if your website rarely changes and has nothing to update. For a single job, a fixed price is the better fit.

The plan also doesn’t suit you if you need someone on hand every day for small changes. And we may say no: we can’t take on every website, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.

What can you check before you pay?

  • 96+Google PageSpeed on a phone, this site and all three sample sites
  • 65 → 96VORMLAND, our sample site for architects, after two changes on one day

Questions about website maintenance

Is website maintenance the same as website management?

Mostly, yes. Maintenance usually means keeping a website working; management adds regular changes to its content. On our plan both come from the same hours.

Do you maintain websites you didn’t build?

Yes, including WordPress, Shopify and Webflow sites. We look at your website first and tell you what we can take on, because we can’t take on every website.

Do I have to move my website to your hosting?

Not to get changes made. If we are responsible for keeping the website running, we prefer to run the hosting too, because then the fix is in our hands when something breaks.

Who owns the website?

You do: the code, the domain and the content. We only need access to make changes.

Does routine care use up my hours?

We agree this for each website. If the routine takes up to about 1 hour a month, it may not come off your hours at all.

How fast do you reply?

We reply to normal requests within 12 hours. If your website is down, we answer as fast as we can, and plan clients can phone us.

What happens to hours I don’t use?

They carry over to the next month, once. After that they expire.

Is support free for a website you built?

Yes, for the first three months after launch: we change texts and images and fix bugs. After that, a monthly plan is one of the options.

Is there a contract?

No. You pay each month in advance and can cancel any time before the next payment.
