Free website review: what to fix first
Send us the address of your website and get a short review written by the founders of Umberform. It is a website audit that tells you what to fix first, how much work each fix is, and whether you need us at all. No sales call: you get a document. We do 2–3 detailed reviews a month, for brands whose product is visual: furniture, interiors, architecture.
What do you get from a free website review?
You get a short document in three parts.
01
Scores for your main pages
Google PageSpeed on a phone, and what slows each page down.
02
A list of fixes in order
The most benefit for the least work comes first.
03
An honest verdict
Fix it yourself, an upgrade, a rebuild, or “you don’t need us”. We also say roughly what our part would cost.
An example: our own sample site, before and after
Here is the kind of review we write, made on our own sample site for architects, VORMLAND. Of the four UK audit pages we read in October 2026, none shows a real example. This one is real: our own site, measured on 30 September 2026.
- 65Google PageSpeed on a phone, before
- 96the same day, after both changes
What we found
- The 3D cloud of projects kept the page busy for 16 seconds on a device without a graphics card. Google’s test machine has none, and neither do many older phones.
- The whole page faded in when it opened. On slow machines the main photo appeared while the page was still invisible, so the test did not count it.
What we changed
- Without a graphics card, the page now shows the same 32 projects as a grid, and the 3D library does not load.
- The page no longer fades in when it opens.
Which fixes give the most for the least work?
The five fixes below run from deleting one tag to building a new version of one section. All are real changes from our own sites on 30 September 2026.
| Fix | How much work | What it changed |
|---|---|---|
| Remove an empty Tag Manager | delete one tag | 290 KB less on every page |
| Load analytics after the page | change how one script loads | SALTHOLM: 88 → 96–97 in our own test |
| Save the video cover as WebP, with its own first frame for phones | re-save two files | 265 KB → 44 KB; phones get 21 KB |
| Put the page’s styles inside the page | one step in how the site is built | Home page: 87 → 100; main image on screen in 1.2 s instead of 3.9 s |
| Show a still image or a grid when there is no graphics card | a new fallback for one section | VORMLAND: 65 → 96, with the fade-in fix |
In a review, the first three rows would come first. The fifth is still worth doing, but it is a bigger job.
What do we check?
We check six things on your main pages.
Speed and images
- Speed on a phone: the PageSpeed score and what holds back the first screen. How we read it →
- Images: file size and format, and which image loads first. Our image sizes →
- What you can change yourself: which fixes your current platform allows, and which it doesn’t.
Message and enquiries
- Is it clear what you make? Whether a new visitor understands it in the first screen.
- The way to an enquiry: how many steps it takes to contact you or ask for a price.
- Search and AI answers: whether Google and AI assistants can read what each page is about.
What happens after the review?
You choose one of three next steps, and the review tells you which one we would pick.
01
Fix it yourself
Take the list to whoever built your site, or make the small fixes yourself.

02
An upgrade
We make the fixes on the site you have and measure Google PageSpeed before and after.
1–2 weeks, from $900 (about £680)
03
A rebuild
When you can’t change the site you have. Read when a redesign is worth it and what a new website costs.
from $2,000
When don’t you need our review?
- If you only need a score, run Google PageSpeed Insights yourself: it is free and takes about a minute. Our review is for when you want to know what to change, and in what order.
- If your site runs on a builder such as Wix or Squarespace, some speed fixes are out of reach, and the review says which ones.
- If customers pay on your site, we can review it, but we don’t build online shops with a cart and checkout.
Who writes the review, and how many do you do?
The founders of Umberform, Oleh Kniaziev and Irene Sierna, write every review. Each one takes real time, so we do 2–3 a month and reply in the order requests arrive.
A real review of a real site: 65 → 96 on VORMLAND, on one day.
Written by the founders, not a tool. No sales call: you get a document.
Send your name, email, the address of your website and what you make. You get a short document: what to fix first, how much work each fix is, and an honest verdict.

Questions about the free review
Is the review really free?
Yes. You don't pay for it, and you don't have to buy anything after it.
Will you call me?
Only if you ask. We send you the review as a document. If you want to talk it through, tell us and we will arrange a call.
Is this an automated report?
No. We use Google PageSpeed for the scores, but people look at your pages and write the fixes and the verdict.
What do you need from me?
Your name, email, the address of your website and what you make. If something already bothers you, add it in the last field.
Do you also check SEO?
We check whether Google and AI assistants can read what each page is about. A full SEO audit with keyword research is not part of this review.
What if my site is fine?
Then the review says so.
