Umberform

Your web team, by the month

A monthly subscription for websites, 3D images and automations from one team: two studios that already work together. You buy hours each month, and before any task starts we tell you how many hours it takes. The first month is at our cost.

Why do brands take a team plan instead of hiring?

01

A team of your own costs a lot

In the US, a web developer and a 3D artist earn about $201,550 a year between them. That is around $16,800 a month in salaries alone — before taxes, software and the months it takes to hire.

02

A new contractor for every task

Renders from one studio, pages from another, a price list from a freelancer. Each one needs a brief, your files and time to learn your brand.

03

A collection arrives in pieces

The renders are ready, but the collection page waits in another studio’s queue. The images and the page go live weeks apart.

Median pay: web developers and digital designers $99,520, special effects artists and animators $102,030. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, read 3 November 2026.

What is a web development subscription?

A web development subscription is a fixed monthly payment for a set number of hours of work on your website, such as new pages, catalogue updates, speed and search, instead of a separate quote for every task. Ours adds 3D images from Render Friends, our sister studio, and automations, so one set of hours covers all three. Every task is estimated in hours before it starts, and the hours come off your plan only after your yes.

Umberform builds websites and automations. Render Friends makes 3D images. We, Oleh and Irene, lead both. Spend the hours on images one month and on your website the next.

Umberform — websites and automations

  • Collection pages, catalogue updates, speed, search.
  • Leads to your CRM, price lists for dealers, files in order.

Render Friends — 3D images

  • Renders of new products, every fabric from one model, interior scenes, images for marketplaces.
  • 62 furniture brands, interior designers and architects have worked with Render Friends since 2022.

How many hours does a typical task take?

From about half an hour per angle for another fabric on a ready 3D model to about 32 hours for a room scene with several of your products. Every task comes with its hours before we start; here is roughly how long common tasks take.

WebsiteUmberform
A new collection on a page template you already have≈ 2–4 h
A new kind of page — fabrics, showroom, for designers≈ 8–11 h
New photos and prices for 10 products≈ 1.5–2.5 h
A slow page made fast on phones, measured before and after≈ 5–8 h
A page written for Google and AI search≈ 8–13 h
AutomationsUmberform
Renders and photos named, sorted and resized by a small program≈ 1.5–5 h
Website enquiries go to your CRM, with an email to the right person≈ 5–8 h
A PDF price list for dealers, built from your spreadsheet≈ 6–10 h
A weekly report, or Instagram enquiries sorted by AI≈ 12–32 h

We run these ourselves: our own sites are built by scripts that resize every image and keep one price list for all pages, and Render Friends sorts its incoming mail with automations.

A new product: a 3D model and three angles on white≈ 6–10 h
The same, plus one shot in a styled room≈ 17–25 h
Another fabric or finish on a ready model≈ ½ h per angle
A close-up of the fabric, a seam or the hardware≈ 2–3 h per angle
A room scene with several of your products≈ 20–32 h per scene
Marketplace images from a ready model≈ 1 h per angle
A 360° spin of a ready model≈ 3–6 h per product
The product in use — open, unfolded or taken apart, two shots≈ 3–6 h
A light 3D file for your website and AR (GLB)estimated for each model

The 3D model is built once. Every new fabric, close-up or spin after that takes a fraction of the first.

Not on the plan: a whole new website, a product configurator, animation. We quote these as separate projects, with a discount for plan members. Prices for new websites →

How does one team handle a whole collection?

  1. 3D model from your CAD files or photos Render Friends
  2. Renders in every fabric and finish Render Friends
  3. Collection page and catalogue update Umberform
  4. PDF and price list for dealers, made from your spreadsheet Umberform · automation
  5. Next season: new fabrics from the same model, in hours instead of a new shoot both teams

No files passed between studios, no second brief. The people who made the renders know where each image goes on the page.

How does the subscription work?

  1. We look at your business and write a plan. Your website, catalogue, images and the tasks you repeat by hand. You get a list of improvements, most useful first, each with its hours.
  2. You ask, we estimate, then we work. Send any task. We tell you whether it can be done and how many hours it takes — before we start. You say yes, and the hours come off your plan. If a task runs over, we cover up to 15% ourselves; beyond that, we stop and ask you.
  3. No tasks this month? We suggest the next one. We take the next item from your plan and start only after your yes.
  4. A short report every month. What we did, how many hours are left, and one to three things we suggest next.

Is a subscription cheaper than hiring staff?

Yes, unless you need someone on hand full time. Two people on staff earn about $16,800 a month in salaries for about 320 hours, paid whether there is work or not; the plan costs $500–$2,000 for 25–100 hours of website, 3D and automations.

When your own team is the better choice: when you need someone on hand every day — small changes several times a day, an answer within minutes, a person in your office or time zone. We reply within 12 hours and work on one or two tasks at a time, so the plan suits regular work, not a full-time desk. We will tell you if that is where you are.

Questions about the subscription

Is this a retainer or a maintenance plan?

Call it a retainer, a maintenance plan or a subscription: what you pay for is 25, 50 or 100 hours a month. The hours go to any task on your website, your 3D images or your automations, and each task is estimated before we start.

How is it different from hiring a freelancer?

With a freelancer you agree a price for each job and find someone else for 3D or automations. On the plan you have hours every month, one team for the website, 3D and automations, every task estimated first and a reply within 12 hours. For a single one-off job, a freelancer or a project quote from us can be the better fit.

Why does it cost less than other subscriptions?

Because you pay for hours, not for a desk. Many subscriptions charge for one task always in progress, whether you need it that month or not; the lowest 3D one we found is $2,399. With us you buy 25, 50 or 100 hours, and every task is estimated before it starts. Our team is in Ukraine, Paul keeps in touch with you, and a 3D model is built once: each new fabric after that takes about half an hour per angle.

What if I don’t send any tasks this month?

We take the next item from your improvement plan and ask before we start. If you’d rather wait, the hours carry over to the next month.

Do unused hours carry over?

Yes, to the next month, once. After that they expire, so the plan stays a plan and not a bank.

Can I pause the plan?

Yes, once a quarter — for example between two collections.

What if a task takes longer than you said?

We cover up to 15% over the estimate ourselves. If it would go further, we stop and ask you before we continue.

What if you don’t deliver?

Then you don’t pay for it: we refund the money for any work we didn’t deliver.

Is there a contract?

No. You pay each month in advance and can cancel any time before the next payment.

Why is the first month at your cost?

So you can see how we work before you pay our full price. From the second month the plan costs from $500.

Do you work on websites you didn’t build?

Yes — WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or hand-written code. First we look at the site and tell you what we can change and how long it takes.

What isn’t included?

A whole new website, a product configurator and animation. We quote them as separate projects, with a discount for plan members. Prices for new websites.

Who does the work?

Umberform’s team does design, development and testing; Render Friends’ 3D artists make the images. Oleh and Irene lead both. Paul is your contact day to day, and Oleh and Irene are always in copy.

Who owns the work?

You do: the website code, the images, the 3D models and the files we make for you.

How do we talk, and how fast do you reply?

By email, in English. We reply within 12 hours.
